Converting LOR lms containing nested Sequences to XL

Hi All,

In my main LOR sequences for each song I include a number of channels that call another sequences lms file.
I do this for parts of my display that are big channel counts such as my 12 strand pixel tree and star for instance to make things a bit more manageable.

I am wanting to convert the main LOR files over to xseq so I can add addition nutcracker effects and not put it back in LOR as the channel count is 50K+ and is killing LOR.

My question is will xlight import the embedded sequences it finds in my main lms file or do I have to bring in each file and do some sort of combining in xlights?

I have done some searches and couldn't see the answer so apologies if this has been asked before.

Sad to say that you are the FIRST person to ever ask about Nested sequences. I remember that feature being introduced into LOR but I never tried it.

I have found the nested feature to be very useful especially with the high channel counts of large pixel displays. Keeps the individual lms file size a bit smaller and helps with complexity when editing. 

I have already gone to the trouble of converting all my LOR sequences to DMX channels so one step easier.  Each of my songs has 6 sequences, 1 main that handles the 16 channel controllers and 5 channels that call an additional sequence files each for my pixel displays.

For me it has worked well the last few years but this year I want more of the nutcracker features and stability from xlights so time to make the move if possible.

i dont quite follow.

You have lor  lms
file1.lms has channels 1-1000

you then on line 1001 say to link to file2
file2.lms has another 1000 channels so 1001-2000
.etc.?

why not do multiple converts
file1
file2

it should load up the xseq file with each conversion without effecting the other channels

Hi Sean,

Yes your description is right on how I have the files setup in LOR.

I can convert each of the 6 files from lms to xseq for each song and have done that.

How do I now get the 6 converted files for each song each containing a block of channels and associated light  commands to run at the same time in sync for each song, will xlights allow me to load multiple files for simultaneously playback in sync or do I need to combine them into one file some how

Sorry if this is a basic feature and I am just not getting it.

Can anyone help here with my last post, I still have not got the point that Sean was making.

How does XL take the information from the six converted files and bring it all into one file for playback?

Any help would be great appreciated as its getting very close to Dec 1.

No, we never coded for lms files that call other lms files.

You are the first person who I know has used this LOR feature to chain lms files together inside of LORS3

I would suggest that you open each file, make a LOR clipboard out of them.

Now create a new sequence where you paste the 6 clipboards into one LMS file.

Rememebr do NOT include any of the RGB channels that nutcracker will create. maybe channel count is small enough that you can build the one lms.
