XSchedule looping at close
« on: November 24, 2017, 01:26:36 PM »
When my show is set to shut down for the night, it plays the closing sequence and then loops constantly playing just the closing sequence. I manually shut it down last night but need to figure this out so when I am not at home at shutdown it will turn off out the lights properly. I am using 2017.32 as it said to use it for this season as a stable version. Thanks in advance.

Timmy

Not sure what 2017.32 has, but how about setting a playlist that runs a command to stop all, scheduled to run at your end time with a priority of 10?

How would I add a command to stop all on the playlist? I am looking but not seeing a way. Or did you mean to play an empty sequence at the close, if that is even possible.

This was fixed in a later version. I would move to 37 and then 38 when it is available.

Total Noob here, having this exact same issue.  Not sure where I am going wrong with the scheduler.

I have 2 playlists -

"Bright" plays from 1700-1815.
"Dim" plays from 1815-0000.  This does not stop at midnight, I have to manually end it every night.
I am running the newest version, 2017.42 (64bit)

When I run a check schedule, I only get errors about extra channels (which doesnt make sense, I've checked all my models, and all channels are accounted for).

Try setting 23:59 or 00:01. Maybe there is a midnight bug.

As for the other problem do your show folders match. Displayed in black not amber.

Actually version 2017.42 is 6 days old and there have been 2 releases since then.  Probably no changes that affect this issue though.

Yeah Gil I don’t think any change would fix this.

Schedule is set to 23:59:59 and still having this issue.

Weirdly, happened last night.  At 00:0400 I VNC'd into the box that runs xSchedule, and as soon as I initiated (not even entered the password), the show stopped.

Attached are 2 screenshots of the xlights and xschedule folders, can see everything is in black, not amber.

Does the PC that I have running this need to not be headless maybe?

For what it is worth :-)   When I setup my schedule I set the number of loops, (7 in my case), I  then discovered I needed to determine the actual time that the last loop came to a close and set the "off time" to be in the middle of the last sequence in the loop, following which it closed "gracefully".  If I only set the "Max Loops" number, it continued on looping indefinitely as far as I could determine.  In my case I wanted the complete loop played through before closing.

My 0.02c worth  :-)

As an aside  :-)  the "old" Vixen 2.1x scheduler operated very similarly except it simply looped continuously until the schedule past your nominated "close down time" when it continued running the schedule until the last sequence in the scheduled list had played, then closed.

Leave the loops at zero. But check the loops box and it will loop until the time runs out.

Thanks Keith, that makes sense, I will try it out once the "season" is over  :-)
