Not able to see bottom of XL window
« on: July 29, 2018, 09:07:25 PM »
Running XL 2018.23.  I am not able to get the bottom of the XL work area to display.  I have tried minimizing the XL window, I have tried setting the taskbar so it is normally "hidden", I have tried some of the different autoGL settings available in the XL settings panel, and I have tried changing some of my (laptop) PC's global video settings.  No go on any of these; bottom of the XL screen (where the start/stop times and other info are shown).   Any other ideas of what I can try, to be able to see the info at the bottom of the XL window?   I posted a screen shot of what the XL window looks like.   Thanks very much in advance.

If you can see the top line of the screen click on the maximize button.  You probably have/had the window set to larger than your screen size and maximize will set it back to the size of the available screen.

You can also right click on the properties of the xlight shortcut , go to properties and set it to open as maximized where it show Run:.

I don't believe this is xLights related its a normal windows issue with window positions so you should be able to Google how to resize or move a window back onto your screen for whatever OS version you have.  I've had to do this for many different programs in fact I remember looking up how to do it for Windows 10 last week for another program I run.

Thanks very much for all the replies.   I tried what ya'll recommended and tried some things I found by Googling "resize program window".  I tried doing ctrl-; no response.   I also tried opening up and maximizing but the maximize option was "grayed out" so I couldn't choose that option.   Also tried opening xlights and doing alt-space then "S" (this what I found to resize a program window) but size was again grayed out so no go there too.  I then tried several earlier versions of xlights released this year in succession (I have been working really long hours since early April and haven't been updating regularly until the last week or so...) and found that on versions 2018.7 and earlier the bottom info remained visible, but from 2018.8 thru 2018.23 (ok I didn't try them ALL, just some of them...) the bottom info is no longer visible.  I also tried changing the openGL settings again then put that back to auto detect after that didn't do anything.   I checked some of my other windows programs (e.g., excel, word, audacity, notepad ++); it seems that this is the only program window doing this.

Are you connected to multiple monitors? If you are, what happens if you disconnect one?

Well if you had said it worked on 2018.6 and earlier I might have a clue but if 2018.7 is good then I have no idea.

Did you use all the "reset" options under the View menu?
