Text on tree upside down on 1 of 2 strings
« on: November 21, 2018, 01:58:13 PM »
New guy here.  I have everything working, but my tree is acting very strange.  I have a tree with 16 strands up and down ( 2 ports on my Falcon controller).  The strings start on the top left and the second string starts on strand 9 at the top.  From the front, the right side of the tree, the text is upside down and flips right side up as it gets to the middle of the tree for string 1.  I have double and triple checked the wiring and it matches the node layout of the prop and displays properly on the whole house preview in Xlights.
I deleted the tree and replaced it with a new model, no change.
Any suggestions from you experienced people?

Check string properties on the falcon. Have you reversed it?

I will check that as soon as I get back - I am setting this up at our church, so I don't have access to the controller until I get back there to have a look.  I didn't realize I could reverse it, but that makes sense.  Wouldn't have been done on purpose.
I did forget to mention that this isn't just a text issue, any effects on the tree, show that the right side is upside down to the left side, so that would make sense.

I remembered I had taken a picture of the screen for the port and looking at it, that port is set to forward.  Dang I was hoping that would be it.  It seems to me that it is something I have done in the controller or some physical connection, but I can't find anything that makes sense to me.  When looking at how the pixels react , it looks like half of the tree is set to have the input on the top and the other on the bottom

Just for fun... read through this thread and see if anything may help you. It sounds similar.

I will finish troubleshooting tomorrow when it hopefully isn't pouring down rain, but it appears I have a bad port on my controller.  If that is the case, then it explains why things are weird.

And the answer was I had an overlap in a universe causing the problem.  Big thanks to David who called me on Thanksgiving morning to help resolve this issue.
Customer support doesn't get any better than that.

That is above and beyond. Kudos to David!
