Can't Use Old Version And LOR Import Not Working Right
« on: December 13, 2018, 03:06:07 PM »
This is sort of a double post, but I need to resolve this issue(s) so critically, I am just trying to cast as wide of a net as possible.

Please refer to my post in the LOR sub-board:
http://nutcracker123.com/forum/index.php?topic=6073.0

Put very simply, my issues are twofold:

1) LOR imports (LAS/LMS files) are coming in at funky brightnesses, as if being scaled down from 100 > 39, and anything less than 100 seems to be getting scaled down as well.

2) Try to install an older version of xLights to see if I can sidestep the issue, but every single one, no matter how/where I install it, throws an unhandled exception after the splash screen. New installs will ask what show folder to use, but then also crash. Only the latest version (55) seems to still launch, and it gives me the LOR problem before & after re-install.

I'm literally stuck unable to fill my client orders until I get this resolved, as the programming they've purchased is still in our old LOR format. Normally haven't ever had an issue importing it into xLights as needed, but now I'm suddenly faced with these aforementioned problems.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Yes there was a change here because some values above 100 were causing issues so I scaled them to match the on effect range which is 0-100.

So for the lor uninitiated is the lor range 0-100 or 0-255 and if it’s 0-100 how come I have test files with values > 100.

To fix and keep all parties happy I may need to make value scaling optional.

I think it would help if you read my comments in this Issue:
https://github.com/smeighan/xLights/issues/401

I don't believe making scaling optional is the correct fix because the two different scaling types can both exist inside an LMS file.

I looked at all those scale changes to SequenceFileUtilities.  I'm not sure the original scaling change should have been added.  We really need to have a copy of one of the files where the value was coming in above 100 so we can determine the correct way to handle the tags.

Maybe I can provide some files for reference, I've certainly got plenty and my President just cleared me to hand you a few if you need them.

From my file experience, LOR seems to use 0-255 for "DMX Intensity" and 0-100 for regular effects, but maybe it's a version thing, S4/S5 and what not. But, also, admittedly, I'm not an LOR expert, and I've stopped using it almost entirely at this point... We just have orders that come in where a reseller sells one of our legacy packages and I have to start digging into the old programming box, which is all LOR and MADRIX-based.

For either of you guys, e-mail me at emmett.drummond@joltlighting.com and I can send over some LMS and/or LAS files for your internal usage.

I managed to set up an old desktop and put 2018.30 on it, and was able to do my imports and such without issue, so I got my emergency handled, so from my perspective I'm not freaking out anymore, but I'm still more than happy to help however I can to resolve some of these discrepancies.
