singing faces
« on: February 27, 2019, 06:02:04 PM »
Hi all.

I'm having an issue with the singing faces model and I can't figure out what to do about it.   I have a snowman in my display that has 10 AC channels.  When I configure them into a singing faces model they all play fine on the screen but there are two channels it seems to be playing other parts of my display.   When I go to the sequence there is no data on those particular channels but they are still playing in unison with two of my snowman elements.   (two of the mouth positions to be exact).  I'm hoping it's something fairly obvious I'm missing.  Can anyone please help me?

it shows possible overlaps but I've checked them all and there are none.   It's only because i'm coming from LOR and using all my LOR controllers with the same channels I had assigned in previous years shows.  They tend to jump around a bit so xlights is just showing warnings to check.  Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's my understanding that xlights places effects against the model instead of the channels so overlapping channels shouldn't have an effect on the preview screen.   Or am I completely wrong?   LOL

Are you assigning channels as LOR, DMX or E1.31? There could be an issue there.
If you turn on all of the face then do you see the overlapping channels appear on the other model.
Assuming that you do see the channels light up then identify what model it is and have a look at it on the setup tab and confirm that there isn't in fact an overlap of channels.
If you still don't have any luck then sharing the relevant xml files will allow someone to have a look to see where the issue is.

I'm assigning as dmx channels. I've narrowed it down to nodes #9 and #10.  I've tried using sub models as well as forgoing the singing face model and doing a custom model as well. Still there same result.  I have 4 singing bulb faces with 8 channels that work perfectly. Seems to be something with anything past 8 channels where it starts messing up.  I'll share .xml files this evening when I get off work.

Yep something sounds wrong with the channel setup.  It could be on the setup tab or it could be the start channels you've picked for each model.  We need to see what your setup page looks like and the notation you are using to define the start channels.  A screenshot of the setup tab and layout tab should be all we need.  Click the start channel column to sort by start channel.

Ok, it's been a long day lol.  Just got home and was about to take screen shots to send and there it was staring me right in the face.  I had two channel overlaps where I fat fingered the wrong #'s in lol.... I really appreciate the help and sorry to have inconvenienced anyone.  Thanks again!
