Effect Speed to be once per the duration
« on: March 18, 2019, 02:51:10 PM »
I have been using LOR for years and last year did the LOR S5 upgrade, and now this year going to try Xlights.

This is something I used in LOR S5.  I like to program to the exact beat of the music and want "effects" to complete the effect over a selected set of beats (example of 8 beats of the music)

An example in LOR S5 I would do scrolling text left across a matrix over 4 beats of music.  The image would start appearing on the right side on beat 1 and scroll off on beat 4.  In Xlights I am challenged to set the speed manually to make it appear the way I like.  To fast if starts over, too slow and it does make it across.

Another thing I recall doing was making a single spiral pattern go right for one beat, then have it go left for one beat.  Then I copied and pasted those two "beats" over 32 counts.  (multi paste is another post I need to do).

There were a bunch of effects that had that speed option in S5.

Is there a speed setting I am missing?

Some effects work exactly like you describe.  Text is not one of them but I'm pretty sure it has a parameter that affects it's scroll speed.  I created Morph, Fan, Galaxy, and Shockwave which all execute to fit the duration of the effect.
