Cannot get .png sequence from Piskel to work in Xlights
« on: May 07, 2019, 09:07:23 PM »
- I exported a Piskel .png zip file to a folder extracted the 75 .png files. The fisrt file was "Toon_00.png" and copied all 75 pictures to a folder "Toons" in my Xlights folder.
- Set up 12 universes with 6144 nodes for a 64x32 P10 (4-32x16) panel. Started a new "Animation sequence" in Xlights  at 20fps.
- Effect setting to "Picture" with "Browser" pointing to first first .png file, "Toon_00.png".
- Set Matrix timing to 30 seconds, Saved and rendered.
- "Check Sequence" shows no errors or warnings.
- When run only the first frame shows up and will not advance.
- What am i missing? I can make the panels show an ffmpeg converted mp4 sequence but this one designed in Piskel is making me doubt my sanity. I'm new to Xlights so I am probably missing some simple step.
Thanks for your help.

I suspect your names are an issue. The first frame should be _1. No zero start and no leading zero.

Have you considered using an animated gif or an actual movie file?

Yeah I wasn't even sure that multi-image feature even works anymore because no one uses it.  You should be able to save a Piskel file as GIF and then use it and it will animate automatically.

Thanks  Keithsw1111 & Gilrock.  I've downloaded the file as an animated gif file but do not know how to make it work as a video. I Browse in the Xlights folder after downloading it to my Xlights folder and switch the effects to video but cannot find the .gif file. I think I'm still missing a step. (Might be old age  :D). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you a your patience with a Nooby.

GIF files would be used in the Pictures effect.

Use video effect for mp4s.
