Effects Not Centered
« on: November 12, 2019, 03:15:17 PM »
For the fun of it, we are trying our hands at the xLights Around The World - Little Drummer Boy.  We have completed the import, and for the most part things are going well.

The problem I have is in centering of effects when applied to the whole display.  For example, putting a fan on the whole display, the center of the fan is off to the left of center.  The same holds true for other effects as well.

Note that some effects, applied to other groupings are dead center, as they should be.  Checking the individual effect settings of those that appear off, and they all have "x axis center" at 0 (zero).

How can we adjust the grouping (whole display) without going into hundreds of effects and moving them manually?

Yep whole house effects are placed relative to the position in the buffer created by all the models in the group so not everyone's house is centered in the same place.  The quickest way is to select an effect and then right-click to select all effects of that type and then bulk edit the positioning.  That assumes there aren't cases where the position is purposely starting at different locations around the display.

The other way I've suggested and someone reported success was they added a dummy model to one side of their display to cause the center of the group to change.

Thanks Gil.  I'll give both a try.
