Mega tree with uneven strands
« on: November 27, 2019, 12:23:39 PM »
Hi,

I have a problem setting up my mega tree.
As I am using a controller with 4 outputs and also want to light the star on top with it, I have an uneven number of strands. As you can see in the attachment, I use 4 strings, first three have 500 pixels and the last has 400 (as I need the last channels for my star).

As the strings start at the bottom, I cannot tell xlights it is one string, so I have to model it as 4 strings. Xlights only allows me to model 5 strands of 500 pixels each, but if I do that, I have 100 pixels too much.. (overlapping the channels with my star).

So, how can I get rid of the last 100 pixels in my 4th string? Or describe each string length?

hope there is an option, otherwise I need to add a dedicated controller for my star..

regards
Denie

If you can’t model it as one string then you will need to custom model it.

Can I use the same features on a customer model, e.g. faces?
And (how) can I do this while I already have created my sequence, without loosing the effects of this prop?

You can use faces on a custom model.

The secret to not breaking existing sequences is ensuring the model name remains the same.
