Sub model Ideas
« on: January 26, 2020, 08:05:59 PM »
I've been toying around with the Boscoyo props and creating sub models for flakes and 3 and 6 layer stars.
I've come up with:
The "arms" of the flakes,
Rings moving from the middle outward for each flake and star.
The "points" of the stars.

What other sub models do others see in stars, flakes and even the coro mini trees?

I have some 99 node candy canes as well.  I haven't really set up an sub models in them but I have chosen to put the nodes in "diagonally" vs horizontally.  I find that this give a very nice twisted look (more like a real candy cane) when using the spiral effect.  I even put the nodes in such that some are "left" diagonal and others are "right" diagonals so the props can be set in the field with some variability and still have the nice twisted look.

Did you download the Boscoyo models from inside xLights and check whether they already have these same submodels?  I know I already have them.

You can probably get diagonal rendering with the Spirals effect and the right render buffer.

I did download the models for my flakes and stars, placed them right on the layout of Xlights.
The stars have submodels for the "layers" of stars but I didn't see anything else.
The flakes have no submodels.

Unless I missed something....
