Nutcracker 3.6.12 crashes regullarly
« on: December 07, 2014, 04:50:13 PM »
I am now running version 3.6.12.

If I save my sequence in the Nutcracker tab then switch to the Preview tab and press the ‘Open’ button, Nutcracker goes into non responding and never comes back. It also includes just trying to click virtually anything after switching.

I can go back and reopen Nutcracker,  go directly to the Preview tab and open the file no problem,  I can even switch to the Nutcracker tab for editing but if I go back the Preview tab it is not good.

I'd reinstall 3.6.12 again. Sounds like your OpenGL library is not functioning. The preview window relies on OpenGL now.

If it was only that easy.

Reinstalled and same results.

Saving can be so slow sometimes.  I have hit that kind of issue when I have tried to switch to preview only to find out that the sequence had not finished saving.  YMMV

Maybe I was jumping the gun, I thought it had finished saving and it had not and if you jump tabs during that save it does not like to continue the save. UGH.

I must seek patience, I must seek patience. LOL.  :)

I've clicked on the model preview window while a save was in progress and i believe that caused an application crash.  fwiw

I went ahead and checked the fast save and that seems to have speeded things up considerably. I would rather be locked out of changing tabs than to have things crash. JMHO. Maybe a popup saving window with status line could be added next year.

You did see the status bar below that shows what's happening, right?  Often steps are blindingly fast and then it has a long delay where you think its stuck...  it's not been stuck for me in 3.6.12 yet, btw.

When finished, it shows the elapsed time needed during the save.

Using the fast save seems to eliminate the wait.

I also just have to get over the habit of hitting the enter key instead of mouse clicking (old school training LOL) as well.

With the progress bar on the bottom of the screen it is easy to loose focus on it when you are doing a lot of different things at once. i.e. One starts a save then flips over to show notes to see what the next item you are going to work on or check off what you have just done. etc.

Oh yeah, don't ever click on ANYTHING else while saving or Nutcracker is toast. If you hit your mouse button and click on another cell or anything else saving goes off in the weeds.
