Props and Model Issues
« on: November 19, 2020, 08:36:01 AM »
I have two issues that are driving me nuts and I can't figure out how to correct.

I have a 6 layer star that the last 20 nodes don't fire.  Checked wiring diagrams, tested with xLights and the controller.  Checked layer sizes and total, everything checks out (but I'm missing something simple).  All rows fire with the controller, but won't with xLights.  Which leads me back to something simple.  There are 3 layers to that portion, 20, 30, 40.  So the last 20 of the third layer (and the last of that strand) are the ones that don't go.

Second is Candy Canes.  I used the model import of the Boscoyo Chroma Canes. The last pixel isn't lighting.  I feel the instructions said to load this into xLights as a 3x33 matrix and I wired it that way, starting at node 2 but I see that there's a different wiring schema for the actual imported model.  Is there a way to force the start to be at node 2 and go for 99 or do I need to rewire.

Bonus question, can I black out nodes with xLights?

I am newer and super tech crazy guy, but these are kinda driving me crazy..  thanks!

6 layer star issue:  it could be too many things to guess

starting at node 2:  sure you control the start channel for the model.  The model can start anywhere on that string.  You just have to align everything between xlights and the controller.

bonus question:  sure an Off effect can blackout any node if you place it in the right spot in the correct rendering order.  But I'm sure you really meant can it force a channel to zero all the time.  No.  That's a feature meant for the show player.

6 layer star issue:  it could be too many things to guess - OK, willing to run though the top few?  I?m happy to provide info or a pic or my third born son.  Teenager, strong back.  Just kidding... maybe.

  • OK, I?ll try again to do that.  Maybe I?ve got a controller issue that I missed... Thank you!!.

Yeah you should use that black electrical tape to cover the wires after you cutout the pixel...lol.
