Boscoyo 24 x 48 - 2" matrix with 100 pixels strands
« on: November 30, 2020, 01:58:52 PM »
In Xlights, can someone let me know if this is the proper way to model a matrix with (1152 pixels) that is a 24x48 mesh, meaning 24 rows and 48 pixels per row.  (horizontal setup)

Direction:  Horizontal
# Strings:  1
Nodes/String:  1152
Strands/String:  24
Starting Location:  bottom left

I really hope that this is correct.  My 11 year old will be very bummed if he has to yank out pixels.  He did

As long as you only have one data connection back to the controller that sounds ok.

This is my first year doing this.

I think that I will have to split the pixels data connection.  I have a Falcon F16v3 and I'm pretty sure that it will only accept 1024 pixels per channel.

Assistance will be needed in XLights in how to do this.  I will try to figure it out and post a snapshot

If you split it in half it will be

# Strings 2
Nodes/Strings 576
Strands/String 12

The Falcon has a limit of 1024 pixels per output

Is it possible to break it up in 100s since I am using 100 string pixels?  I want to avoid (if at all possible) cutting and splicing the pixel string to run to a new channel on the controller.

Say 600 & 552?

Just curious if you can individually select the start channel of a string in a model.

The matrix model assumes equally length strings that start on one side of the matrix. Anything else then you either need to move to custom models or shadow models if you want xlights to do the controller upload.
