Master View disappeared - Solved
« on: January 05, 2021, 01:21:56 PM »
Hello Team,

Happy New Year !!!!
I hesitated to post here or in the ?report a bug? section.
Since this morning, all sequences I opened, can not be shown. I do not see the models and effects associated and do not see the sound also. I tried to reset the window. Checked the options in the master view menu. Desinstall and reinstall xLights but I still have the problem. Tried to change the show folder. Any thoughts? I also tried to click on all items from the window menu but nothing...
I attached a screenshot where a sequence is opened...But nothing shown

Thank you very much in advance,

Kr
Olivier

Would seem that you have inadvertently pointed somewhere that is not your show folder.  Use file explorer to find you show folder and all the files and point xlights to that location.

Thank you for your comment. I had the same idea and I tried to change temporally and permanently the show folder but it did not fix the problem. The screenshot I attached was made when my main folder was defined correctly...I just double checked and this is the correct one...It should be another issue...

I assume you rebooted.  It looks like it might be having an opengl issue or something trying to create the view port.   Hopefully a reboot would fix it.

Alternatively, you could try wiping out all the xLights settings by deleting the ~/Library/Containers/org.xlights directory.  Might be a strange window position artifact setting or something.

Yes, I rebooted but it did not fix the problem.
XLights works on MacOS so the path you proposed might not be the same. I found a folder org.xlights in Library/application scripts/. I deleted it, restarted xlights but no changes. At the restart of xLights, org.xlights folder was not re-created. I desinstall and reinstall it and the folder reappeared but no change again. I can not see the main view structure when I open a sequence...

FYI....dkulp...a.k.a.  Dan Kulp is the MacOS xLights developer and that's why he is trying to help you since you were on a Mac.  I would look again for the folder he called out.  Also might help to call out which OS version and hardware you have.

Hi Gilrock and Dan, thank you very much for your support and clarification.

I double checked the path ~/Library/Containers/ but I do not find an 'org.xlights' folder (screenshot 1). In this folder I do find a folder called 'xlights' only (screenshot 2).

When I did a search, I found the folder called 'org.xlights' at ~/Library/Application Scripts/ (screenshot 3)

(Library=Biblioth?que in French so it is called biblioth?que on the screenshot 3). I attached the 3 screenshots.

Should I delete the folder 'xlights' folder from the ~/Library/Containers/?

Interesting... I've never opened that folder with finder.   If you cd into that directory from the command line and do an "ls", it likely shows "org.xlights".  However, in Finder, it shows as just xLights.   Not sure how that is handled.

Anyway, delete that xLights (or org.xlights) folder and try again. You WILL need to re-select the show folder, enter email address, reset preferences, etc...

Hi Dan,

Thanks a million, it works just fine now !!!!

I agree, with the terminal, I can find the path you mentioned but from the finder, it is a different story...May be because this is a French setup and all paths are 'translated' in French...Just an assumption here.

But important thing is that I can use xLights now...Thanks again !!!
