trying to get my lor RGB's set up in xlights HELP!!!
« on: October 27, 2021, 09:21:16 AM »
I am trying to get my 4 lor ccp's and 1 pixie2 setup in xlights. I used an earlier version 2019 that had the lor tab in the controller setup and was almost there.  I had the software able to see my controllers and tested them on the test page, but when I tried to sequence the preview worked but I was able to get NOTHING to the lights.  Since then I downloaded the newer version and now can't see the LOR tab in the controller setup and am stuck.  HELP!!!

Without sitting in front of the program which I'm not its hard to guide you through what to do.  In the new way you will pick the interface type "USB" or "Ethernet" as the starting point and you will be adding a controller.  In the fields on the right I forget the name but somewhere you will set the interface type.  It may be called Protocol.  For a Pixie you will set it to "LOR Enhanced".  Once you set that it should spawn additional fields to setup the same type of info as you did in the old LOR Enhanced dialogs I had created.

I predicted this new way might be more confusing and now I'm having my own problems figuring things out even though I worked on the program for 5 years.  I couldn't get it to set any of my controller outputs properly without hardcoding everything.  I was trying trying to replace a Star model with a Spider model for Halloween and I set it to be on port 2 of a controller and it was assigning the same universe/channel for the model that the model on port 1 was using and I could not figure out how to get it fixed.  Its freakin ridiculous and now I gotta dig into the code to figure out why everything is screwed up.

The controller centric changes were beginning of 2020 so unless you want to stay stuck on a 2019 version you need to learn the latest way to do it.

Not enough information for me to guess what's wrong.  You can join the xLights Zoom room and ask for help or if you want help on this forum we'd need to see some screenshots showing the controller setup in the controller and xlights and the settings for a model that doesn't work.  I assume you've turned on "Output to Lights" button.

I would be best to first test 1 device.  I'm not even sure we can run 11 devices with 2,400 channels lag free.  That LOR protocol is proprietary and I did my best to reverse engineer it but its not going to run as well as you can run in LOR because they wrote it.
