RJ45 cable wiring?
« on: October 17, 2021, 04:39:13 PM »
OK I'm new to xlights, this is my first year. I have been using LOR software for the last 5 years. Switched to xlights because of the much better sequencing ability. I have all LOR controllers It took me 3 weeks just to get my controllers setup for xlights. Started sequencing just this last week. I'm starting to get the hang of it.

My question is. I read that going from my USB dongle to my controllers would be different coming from xlights software, than from LOR software. That I have to make some jumpers of J45 cables. Is that true? I have a chart that shows the new connections, just not sure if I need to do it.
Hope someone here can help me
Thanks
Michael

I run 3 LOR 16 channel controllers and have never changed the Dongle.  It took a little bit of trial and error to get the correct USB port in Xlights setup, but no issues with controllers (address set to 1,2, & 3).  All 3 are daisy chained together.

I also just run each channels as dumb LED lights, single color.  Also, I've got 12 SanDevices connect.  No issues

Thanks for the reply, I wasn?t talking about the dongle, I was told that the rj45 cable it self, I was told that the wiring was different in xlights, then in lor. I not if you have them working.exauay

If you are using the lor dongle you do not need to change the cable. That is only for dmx dongles or rj45s on controllers (where they don?t have jumpers that do the same thing)
