Copying xLights
« on: November 26, 2021, 06:38:19 PM »
Maybe I'm searching the wrong terms here. I've been setting up xLights on my desktop.  I have the controllers, layout, sequences and models set up.  Now I'm wanting to move it to my laptop.  Is there an easy way to copy everything over to where I don't lose all my settings?

In xlights, go to controller tab .. at the top this is your show folder. Note that. Now close xlights and copy everything from that "show folder" to your new machine.

AllKnowiing is correct and I move my data all the time.  Just be aware that if your show folder is not in same "drive" you could have a problem with links.  My desktop has a small SSD (drive C) and a large hard drive (drive D) which is where I keep my show folder.  To solve the drive letter problem I use a large USB drive on my laptop where I keep my show folder which becomes a drive D.  Everything works as designed.

Awesome, thanks.  I was on the right track.  I think my issue was the drive problem as you said jnealand.
