How do I make an American flag wave
« on: February 24, 2022, 07:33:16 PM »
I have been asking around, even in the zoom for a couple of days, and have n't quite gotten the right answers yet.
Some of the guys have tried to help with tips. And in the first zoom I was in a couple of guys helped but it just wasn't what I wanted. So the second zoom a couple of people gave me a link to a video that does exactly what I want... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtjyMFtux5Q (less then a minute long)
I tried to duplicate it exactly with failure then I was told to go to the 3D xesentials video on 3D. I did and watched and learned a lot but not enough to get what I want.
Then I went back to the short video and look at the comments and saw this comment (below)and now I know it was even deeper than just a few settings...here is the statement when someone asked to elaborate on his video,
"Sorry that was a long long time ago, I just from memory used the standard cube model. the settings can be a bit tricky but for peace stakes, I would generally use:

Starting location: One of the bottoms
Direction: One of the vertical
Strand Style: Alternate ... or No Zig Zag if you are using icicle pixels"

I tried to be as detailed as possible so you know where I am coming from.
I am pretty new to xlights but am learning every day. So please talk down to me if you can so I understand.
One more piece of info that might help the flag that I am using came from gilberts engineering.
Thanks in advance for your help as I know it will save me literally hours of work. :O)

We have a matrix (16' wide, 8' tall) that we call our "Flag".  Simply put a pictures effect with a .gif of a flag waving.  It looked great and grabbed a lot of attention from folks driving through the display.

Pixel density was 96 wide and 48 tall.

Yeah, what he said. Just find a .gif file of a moving flag image that you like, and plug it into a picture effect.
