2. My first Christmas display was a huge success and now that Christmas is behind me and I've seriously caught the bug, I'm looking hard at Halloween.  I've been all over the website, manuals and Youtube looking for details on xLights and servos and I've only found bits and pieces of information but not much on hardware interfaces, etc. 

Where is a good place to start to research using xLights for animatronics (i.e., skeletons, etc.).  -I'd love to repurpose my Pi and DMX dumb controller for this, if possible.

I'd probably suggest going to the Pixel2Things website.  Look at his servo board products and he will have product videos that show using the Servo models in xLights.

There are several groups on animatronics on Facebook that I have seen mentioned.  However since I do not do that or plan to, I am not a member nor do I remember the group names.  Just suggesting that you might look there as well.
