Transfer Sequences between computers
« on: August 04, 2024, 01:46:33 AM »
Hi there,

I'd appreciate any advice on the following.

I have built sequences on xLights with music. I am in Europe and would like to transfer those sequqences (more than 100) to friends in the US, as want to use them at Burning Man in a few weeks.

When I copied the files over through a shared Google drive, the link from the sequences to the audio files don't work, as they include specific path names on my computer.

I found the "Package Sequence" command that packaged all as xsqz files and transferred those through the Cloud. But I can open them only in a read-only mode and "FPP Connect" does not see those xsqz files for transfer to my Raspberry/FPP.

What is the best way to transfer 100+ sequences from one xLights/FPP installation to another one that is basically identical, except that xLights runs on a different computer.

And another question: if I would bring my SD card from my Raspberry from Europe to the US and put it in a Raspberry that is configured identical, would it work with FPP? Or is there any hardware ID  that prohibits that?

Thanks!

If you didn't include the audio in the show directory structure, you can still create that directory (with the audio) on the target computer and then all will be good.

Otherwise, you should be able to copy (zip/tar/rar/7zp) the show directory and restore on the target computer.

If you have a licensed cape on the rPi, you might have some re-configuring but other than that, bringing your sdcard should work.
