LOR Convert error messages
« on: November 26, 2014, 07:42:57 PM »
Hi Sean,

When converting one of the sequence from LOR to Xlights am getting a strange error and not able to resolve despite many hours of troubleshooting. All other sequences with same channels work fine. Any pointers

I just started looking at using a Raspberry Pi for next year and was doing a trial conversion in xlights.  I got similar errors and discovered that the LOR channels in your .lms sequence need to be in order (Controller 1 channel 1 then 2 etc) and you can not have any missing channels.  Once I reordered and added blank channels to fill in the gap.  The same channel error went away.  Also if you are using E1.31 you need to add any unused universes to your setup.  Hope this helps.

Those all look like warnings that shouldn't have prevented the imported file from working.  I do lots of LOR imports and there are always expected warnings.  The older xLights versions didn't have these warnings so it can appear like a problem if you upgrade to a newer version and start seeing these.

"unmapped" means there is no network defined for the channel.  I do this in my LOR sequences all the time like I have a "Beat Track" that is not mapped to hardware so I get this type of warning.  If you want it mapped to hardware then double check what you have it mapped to.  Also there is a checkbox in the conversion screen to "Map LMS channels with no network".  You should uncheck that box if you have these type of channels.  To be honest I haven't figured out why you would want it to default the other way.  Non LOR users think that its a problem in the file but I disagree.  I have two distinct reasons for creating channels with no network.  The Beat Track and I have to define 7 extra dummy channels for my ribbons so when I copy Superstar data which only works with CCRs it will overlay the extra junk channels onto my unmapped network channels.  Then when I convert I expect them to be ignored on purpose.

"map to the same channel" means xLights calculates the absolute channel number as it's building up your channel list and this means it found a channel that was already previously mapped so you have more than one channel both mapped to the same hardware channel.

"empty" means you defined a channel but there was no data found.  Mainly just a warning in case you didn't mean to leave it with no data.

If these explanations don't help and you still have a problem if there is a way you can upload the file somewhere I can download it and try to take a look.  I just can't guarantee how quick I could do it since I'm leaving town for a few days in two days.

Make sure that you do not have any beat channels or timing channels in the sequences you are converting, also if you have any tracks in the seq get rid of them and try the conversion again.

All of mine have beat channels...it will work just fine if you uncheck the box I mentioned.

I just noticed with the latest download of Xlights that that option is there that you explained, it is nice to have as in previous versions you ad to eliminate the beat channels.
