Model within a model?
« on: March 02, 2014, 09:45:36 PM »
See attached diagram of my star model. In this upcoming year I will add a nice 'tree topper' star to the top of my pixel megatree.
I am in the middle of building a tree topper star that consists of 5 straight rigid pieces of 5VDC 2811's from Ray.

There are 32 pixels in each rigid strip. However, if you look inside the star you will see a pentagon. It has 5 sides. There are also 5 triangles on the outside of the inner pentagon.

When I 'built' my star model, I simply assigned it as  being five straight lines of 32 pixels each. However, to use ONLY the 5 separate outer triangles and ONLY the inner pentagon, how would I 'target' these separate geometric shapes so that I can better use only 'parts' of my star all at the same time? I would like to 'spin' just the outer triangles or perhaps spin only the inner pentagram. Perhaps the outer triangles can be spinning in one direction while the inner pentagram is spinning in the opposite diagram all while changing colors vividly!!

Not sure where and how to go next to only use 'parts' of my star model so that my star dynamically changed into different shapes. Can I have a model within a model?? How would it all work? How do I do this? --Greg--

Oops, I think I used the work pentagram when I meant pentagon. --Greg--
