Basic questions on new models
« on: July 22, 2015, 10:15:05 AM »
Hi  Guys,
This one is pretty basic....  Just beginning to play with XL4.
The models I created in XL3 were opened with no problem.  And my layout from XL3 looks good.  However, when I create a new model and give it a name, the new model does not appear in my Preview Models list on the layout tab.  I can see the new model when I click the Models button, and can edit it with no problems.  also, I made sure that the "Part of my display" box is checked.  Am I missing a step?

Second question:  In the custom models dialog, how is the "From Output" box used?  Do I enter my Universe number here?

Thanks
dave

I can see I need to develop some Basic answers so then I can just cut and paste. :)

Click the model groups button and either uncheck them all or add the model to one of the active groups.  I only display models in the groups you've selected or if you uncheck them all I display every model that has the Part of my display box checked.

Using From Output is optional.  If you leave it at 1 then you use the absolute channel number.  If you change it to anything other than 1 then the channel number becomes a relative offset from the output number you enter.  If you happen to have a 1 to 1 mapping of universes to outputs then yes that can be your universe number but it's really the output number from the Setup tab.
