Very Good Tom!
That worked. Learn something new every day. Now if I can carve out enough time between work, family and helping with my daughter's marching band... I can get this thing done!

Worked great Tom. Now I just have to crave out some time to do some sequencing!

Thanks to the original poster for posting this model information.  Does this model code work in the newer versions of xlights?  I pasted the code into the .xml file however the model does not show up when I load up xlights.  I went in and did a "stare and compare" to the xml code posted vs some custom models I had done on my own and there are some subtle differences.

Here's my pumpkin model (9 channels, should be adaptable) as an xmodel that should be importable.

This HC model is more compatible with the latest version of xLights and can be imported very easily

I know this is a little old but I ran into this same issue this morning using 2016.55 - thought I would post what I found for other new folks.  First off - export/import model functionality is much nicer than working with the XML but I saw the direct XML posting and thought I would try it.  Anyways, I copied in the XML as described and same thing (tried twice thinking I messed something up) - the model was not there...or was it???  Turns out the XML preview tag is not in the original XML post so it ends up being placed in the Unassigned Preview dropdown option.  To "fix" I selected the Unassigned dropdown and...there was the model.   Over in the model data boxes to the left I then changed the Preview option to Default, saved and switched back to the Default preview dropdown option.  Going back and looking in the XML code you can see a new tag was added LayoutGroup="Default"

Reminder - as Sean has said many times (and in post #14 in this thread) - F10 to backup before editing this file.

This software (and people) rocks!
