Throw in the towel already?  Sometimes I don't even start till now and I don't even try to run my show till like Dec 10th or 15th.  If you just started sequencing from scratch in xLights you could produce a good show before December.

I have never sequenced in xlights. I have always done it in vixen. Is the a current tutorial out there for learning the sequencer? I can try it. Was my plan to sequence strictly from xlights next season.
thanks

If you put the sequencer at 50 ms timing marks, it is almost exactly like sequencing in Vixen (2.1.XX).  The beauty is all of the other wonderful effects that the developers have given us for the RGB lights.  This is my first year using xLights only, and I can tell you the learning curve is very short.  My issues are with everything else pixels, and a few computer problems.

Don't throw the towel in yet. The developers have made XL4 very easy to use and is the soul reason I am doing a light show at all as I looked at a few programs a couple of years ago and just found them too much trouble to use. When I heard that there was going to be new XL I jumped in and played around with XL3 to get a feel of what the effects could do and then started using the first Beta release of XL4. Gil And Dan have worked tirelessly on getting it to something that is very easy to use. This is my first year with any sort of lights so have had to start from scratch. The hardest thing for me has been sorting the hardware side of things but I think I have that sorted now but know I will not have lights working until the middle of December and like Gil and I don't care. If you want a quick way of getting a show up and going just drop some random effects on some models and keep what you want and delete what you don't like. It might not be be the show you want but Joe Public will still be blown away by what they see. Good luck and don't give up yet.

Well I had another set back today that has really messed up  things. I have a large show at my in laws and two of the LSD 48 controllers have messed up. I will have to bench test them to see what is going on. I have had to take equipment the show at my house and move it over there. This means I may or may not have a show again this year. I have a lot of people looking forward to that show s may just move my charity over there and concentrate on it. If I can get things working then I will do this one. I will work on the XL sequencing in the mean t. I have to get another power supply unless the old PC supply will hold up for the show. I have couple of them so I will see what happens.
Thanks for all the encouragement and help.

I "re-sequenced" all of my sequences in Xlights this year....from past Xlights, LSP and LOR sequences.  It took no time compared to the other programs. The show is way better than last year.  I also run a charity with my show, so I know how important it is to get it up and running.

For me, ~45 mins to 1 hour per song as I was learning along the way (I have +35,000 channels and +80 different models)...after a couple of sequences you will be a pro and can knock them out every 20 mins or so..  If I can help please let me know.

I do appreciate all the help you have offered. I will have a video show but as far as the lights go I had to use a lot of my stuff to get the other show running when the LSD 48 controllers would not work. I am sure it is in the sequencing but I have gotten all the sequences for the in laws show up and going  now (pretty much an all night project.) This is the last year they want a show due to health and age so next year I will run it here and do all the sequencing on xlights.
They have a contest in their subdivision and st prize is $1000.00 so a little incentive to get that show going.
I did one for them last year and they won second ($500.00). Beat by a static show.

So maybe what I'm remembering is a "profile" file instead of a project file.  The both begin with "pro" and I think that was file extension.
Yes you have to have the profile in your directory.

First year I was LOR and it did take about 2-3 hours per minute of music. Same with vixen.
We moved the charity to the other show for this year too. I will use xlight exclusively next year since they keep adding new stuff. I will prob ably get back into pixels again if the money is there. Wife might let me take some of my military disability for some. HA!

Up Date:
I have reworked the profile in vixen and did a new set up in xlights. It looks like maybe my profile was corrupt. I had to scale the show back a bit due to one controller mishap but I will have a small show with my video here this year along with the bigger show at my in laws. I also may have had a conflict in how I set up my models in xlights that was causing a problem when the playback was reviewed. I will do all my sequencing in xlights/nutcracker next year after I get a chance to learn it.
