You need to read all the posts you can find about using audacity and timing marks.  Also look for the tutorials where Sean covered the use of audacity.

OK, thanks I will re-read the tutorials.   I did try to use audacity but found it cumbersome -- although I was in panic mode by that time.  I will see if I can find Sean's tutorial.

OK, so I watched and read Sean's tutorial.  Getting the Vamp plugins definitely makes Audacity worth the trouble!  I was able to create the timing marks and import them in to Xlights/Nutcracker easily and it worked perfectly.  The beats are right on, looks great.  So the only part I haven't found the answer to is if I can "add" this functionality to an existing LOR sequence (or my LOr sequence I have already imported into Xlights).  I still find it a lot easier to work with the old grid for single channel RGB or just turning stuff off and on.   Is there a way to combine all this great RGB stuff with the old stuff or do I just need to create a new Xlights sequence and start adding it all in.  I see how to export it back into LOR but I would really rather not do that.  I *could* put it in a LCB file and paste it into the LOR sequence and then export back to Xlights but it seems like there should be a better way.

Yes. Create a model with a single line 1 string with one node. Create an empty sequence using your audacity timing marks. Now lock down morph, effect1,sparkle,brightness,contrast. Make sure morph is clicked. Now lock colorwash as effect1, lock off as effect2. Create random effects. Save. Export model as lcb. Paste this in lor. You will see a color spike right on the beginning of each timing mark that fades to black.
