cutting time from a sequence...

I have a sequence that has a number of effects that I like, but it is too long for my needs and the song itself is not "Christmasy" enough.  So, i'd like to shorten the sequence -- by taking effects from the beginning.

how would i do that?

in audacity i can set a split point and delete the track before (or after) that split.  anything similar in xlights 4?

Not aware of that functionality in XL. If I was doing this, I would note what point in XL that I will be trimming the audio file. Then when I use the shortened audio, highlight all the cells with effects and delete them. Then cut / paste all the effects over to the new starting point.  More manual, but it will work.  I think XL expects you to have the trimmed software before starting your sequencing, which makes sense.  Good Luck.

You can change the duration of the sequence from a sub menu off the settings menu.

Delete the fseq , then save , then close and reopen the seq . Before that , you should reduce the length of the song in Audacity.

the problem was removing the first part of the sequence -- i liked the finale.

I played around and found a solution that met my needs.

I created a new models and used the select operation to highlight the sequence portion from 1min til the end, then pasted into the new models at time-0... i cleared the original models and then repeated to copy back to the original models.
