Windows Warning
« on: May 24, 2016, 07:39:26 PM »
Hi all.

I'm just getting into RGB's and Pixels. I ran my show last year strictly 110v in LOR. I tried to download the latest version of Xlights on my laptop with Windows 10 and a pretty serious windows warning popped up. Should I ignore it and proceed? Also, are any of you running your show strictly in Xlights? Any input would be appreciated.

The xLights installer is not recognized by Windows 10. It always forces me to install as if there is some risk.

I have installed xLights a Hundred or more versions. I always upgrade immediately when a new version is released because I can always go back.

Most people don't play the show in xlights, but rather use fpp/pi. Xlights can do your ac stuff as well. It is a very capable platform. Have you purchased any pixels or controllers yet?

Yes I have 2 E682, 4 cmb24, and 4000 pixels. I was going to get two more E682's but I'm thinking the Falcon is going to get the nod.

I was going to recommend the Falcon. It's definitely the best board to buy.

zvac-I have several E682s I have used for the last few years and they have operated flawlessly.   I purchased an F16V2 this year, so you will have company in people going with two platforms!!  Power in numbers....

Last year I ran my show off E682. Not one issue and it went 6 weeks non stop. I had maxed the board right out. My only issue was the data distance the controller could produce. It was only about 15 feet. This year I have upgraded to the F16v2.............. Loading Xlights into windows 10. Yep like getting on a plane. Play the game with all the steps but in the end you will get where you want to be.  that will happen on every upgrade also.....

Although the Falcon has more capibilities than the E682 the price is just a little less than two E682 kits. I like the flexibility that individual less powerful controllers offer.  My display area is quite large and I like to put the controller as close to the props as possible.  There is more than likely a Falcon in my future, but probably not this year.

You might also look at the Falcon F4. 4 port controller, 680 nodes each. This 4 port controller can drive 16 universes either unicast or multicast. Has the oled display, all the same features (virtual strings). I think sale price is $115. http://pixelcontroller.com/store/index.php?id_product=43&controller=product

look on daves store. http://pixelcontroller.com/store/index.php
