Row Copy/Paste issue
« on: August 10, 2016, 04:31:52 PM »
I've been having problems in trying to get a row to copy and paste into another row.  I just downloaded the latest version and still having the problem.  I know I've copied and pasted other rows without any problems but I can't seem to get this one to work.

I don't know what files you might need for this but I'm including a video if it can be uploaded showing the problem I'm having.

It doesn't show in the video since I was trying to keep it as small as possible, but I have the Paste by Time option selected if it matters and I've tried with the timing track checked on and off.

As shown in the video it sometimes paste something in the row that doesn't even match another other row.  Other times it doesn't paste anything.

Let me know what other files you might need, or if you can tell me away around this I would appreciate it also.

Actually copying the data isn't an issue since I finally had to manually select all the effects and then copy them to the desired row.  Just a little pain since having to toggle the timing mark off and on to be able to copy and paste them back into the correct positions.

But I would still like to know why the row copy/paste isn't working for me.

Works when I test it.  The files we need are the same as what you would need if you wanted to run that sequence in a different show directory.

Thanks, here are my files.  This was for Wizards in Winter so I didn't include the media file.  I included a Issues.txt file in the zip file that describes the issues, but here they are which currently I'm seeing at least 3 issue but two of them are similar (just different models).  The third issue is the one I described above.  More details are in the Issues.txt file.

Let me know if you need any other information or anything I didn't send.

Issue #1
The "DW Icicles Left" and "DW Icicles Right" worked yesterday displaying on the preview but today when I opened the sequence they are not displaying.
Expanding them down to their nodes, the nodes have effects on them but the effect color isn't colored in if that matters.  These shold be lighting the Icicles
lined up along the driveway on both sides.

Issue #2
The "DW Arch 1 Blue Garage", "DW Arch 1 White Garage" {All the DW Arch 1-4 Blue and White models} are not showing up either like the Icicles above.
These should be present on my "Old AC Lights" preview window.

Issue #3
Tried to copy the "Window UR" Row and paste it into the "Window RR" Row and either nothing pastes into it or when it does paste, it's pasting something entirely different.

For info, I had to go back to build 40.  Both 43 and 45 seems like they are not carrying the On effect intensities when at the node levels.  Using 45 if I took some of my DW Icicles effects from the node level and just moved them up to the upper level, then the entire Icicles model group would light up (and the effect would turn white).  But if I moved it back to the node level the effect would go black again and would not light up the node.  In build 40, everything is working correctly for me.

I also retested the copy/paste action on the same file I sent in my previous posting.  And under build 40, the copy/paste action worked perfectly for me.

So for now I guess I'll have to stay on 40 just so I can keep on going with my sequence conversions.

Well so far everything you said is wrong does appear to not work for me either.  I don't see anything obviously wrong in the models.  So I guess something got broke as we were fixing other things.  I know I did a lot of work to try to get the off screen effect movement working that might have affected paste.  But the nodes not rendering has me stumped but that's not really my area of expertise.

Thanks, I'm (sorta) glad it wasn't just me.

When I went back to build 40, the sequence lower nodes were still bad, and I was thinking I would have to rebuild the entire sequence again, but then I finally found that once I clicked on the first effect in a node row, all the colors came back on for all the rest of the effects within that row.  So I just had to do that on each row to get the lower nodes to start working again.

I've seen this before where I've found nodes were 'colorless' and clicking on them (or sometimes just rendering again) would return the colors on all the nodes. I am trying to move as much as possible out of the nodes up to the top level but not everything I had previously done have I been able to find an existing effect that would do the same thing, but I'm trying.

Thanks again for checking it.

Well I found what broke copy row/paste row.  I did a change to fix selecting effects when you had to vertically scroll and I modified an underlying function the copy row was using.  So the funny thing is you're not using the new version because copy/paste row is broke and another person is not using the old version because he can't do off screen effect selections.  So just realize when you stick to old versions a lot of times its more a matter of which bugs you prefer to live with...lol.

And while I was checking my code in I see Dan has fixed the node level rendering.  So he doesn't always chime in but he's listening. :)

Great, I know what your saying.  I'm a programmer myself and I'm envious of what all you guys are doing with this.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye open for a next release and will give it a try.  Thanks for helping with it so quick.
