xLights with PixCon and LOR controllers

Hello All,

This year I am using 7 PixCon controllers for my RGBs and I am using 2 LOR AC and 5 LOR DC controllers (in DMX mode). I have successfully managed to get the PixCon controllers working and controlling the RGBs, however I have stumbled at a bit of an issue.

The PixCon controllers are supposed to be able to create a E1.31 to DMX bridge, which I have each set up for to connect the remaining controllers to. However the controllers that are hooked up seem choppy and will only work when I open the "Test" window, I'll try to run a sequence and the RGB's will play but the non-RGB controllers will not.

I've tried testing the controllers in xLights through E1.31 as well as LOR, and I get the same results either way. So I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Has anyone tried this set up successfully or should I try running my LOR controllers with their own DMX dongle instead of trying to use the PixCon as a bridge?

I'm not familiar with the Pixcon controllers, but it seems you have a problem with xlights/LOR in utilizing the DMX ports through them.  I'd ask on the lightorama forum if anyone else has choppy problems and work on getting the DMX to work good using the Pixcon controller.  Maybe there's a firmware update?

I remember switching my LOR boards over to DMX and I had some really bad choppy effects.  Ended up using a DMX dongle, LOR dongle and I had E1.31 going--it was a mess.

Once you can work out the choppy problems then sequencing software will probably work fine

All of my controllers have updated firmware. And I'm not having an issue with universes and how they are directed, the board does work (in the test window) it's just the effects are really choppy and should be smooth.

I think I am going to explore my options though, I am going to try and output LOR from the PixCon controller and see if the PixCon controller has an E1.31 -> LOR bridge (I don't believe it does but it's worth a shot.

If this fails, I am going to try using a DMX dongle and a cross-over cable for the rest of the LOR controllers. Hopefully then I will be able to get some smooth, non-choppy effects out of the controllers.

P.S. I posted this on the LOR forum, and I haven't gotten a single reply. Kind of upsetting since it's getting so close to set up time and I have to much work to do with getting these controllers to communicate effectively.

Maybe if you posted some of your setup screens from xLights and the Pixcon controllers.  I'm not sure what their setup looks like to configure a DMX output stream.
