Overlap in colours in sequencer
« on: October 10, 2016, 05:21:33 AM »
HI everyone, I have solved the problem of the output to the lights but I am still getting an overlap in the models, however when I have ticked the overlap box and click on the models nothing shows up red but when I open my mega tree I have  half of the other models colours showing up. I am also finding when going to previews  I clicked unassign on some of the models, does this interfere with the other models?
The problem of no output went after I deleted all setup and started over and i have noticed when I unassigned candy cane and candles the channel count said 47 and 23 but I have 48 and 24 channels, is this right or wrong?

What do mean by "unassigned the candy cane"?  You mean you set the Preview for that model to "Unassigned"?  That has nothing to do with channel counts.  That just means the model is not assigned to a preview window but it's still a sequenceable model.  It's equivalent to the old not part of my display.

i know unassigning the candy canes has nothing to do with the channel counts, but when I was in the layout tab I clicked on preview and changed it from all previews to unassigned and it gave me a channel count which was 47 for the candy canes and 23 for the candles, where it should be 48 and 24. which is what I put in in the setup tab. I cannot understand what is happening with my channels but could this be causing the overlap?
I will try setup again but each time I do I seem to end up with a different problem. I have followed tutorials and still ended up having problems, like having no output to my lights. I hope this explains a little bit more as I do not work on computers much. this is my first year with xlights. I have been working on the program for 8 months I have updated regularly and do not know if this is also a problem. I appreciate all help given. thank you.

You're still saying changing the preview to unassigned caused your channel count to change and I'm not believing it until I see it in a video.  It would clear a lot up if we could see what you're talking about.

Im not saying it caused it, im saying that it revealed the fact that the channel count is out by 1, even though I put the channel count down correctly in models. it doesn't matter anyway because I have deleted the whole lot and have redone the setup and layout and it still comes up with an error, this time its saying that it will not map to controller on half of the models which all go to one controller. the opposite controller works fine. i have tried all day and finally fixed the overlap problem by setting the channel count higher in setup and allocating one universe to one output but it still will map. i cannot supply any video type as i do not know how.

Sharing your rgbeffects file would probably help us work it out. The check sequence function on the tools menu may also give you some hints at any config problems.

Im not saying it changed the count just it showed that there was 47 channels when I put in 48 ect. I have now changed my setup and redone my layout which seems to have fixed all but my stars I have a channel count on
number 1star has 54 nodes=162 channels starts channel 1 to 162 un1
            2 star has 55 nodes= 165 channels starts on 163 un 1
           3 star has 52 nodes =156 channels starts on 331 un 2
and last 1 straight line of 5 nodes=15 channels starts on 469
gave extra channels to try to stop over lap did not work have now deleted stars. I have clicked on create a star but only goes to 50 nodes still watching youtube to see how to increase nodes. Will try again.
