Single-strand bounce
« on: October 21, 2016, 11:45:44 AM »
I'm trying to use a single strand with a bounce from the left through a Arch, and it seems the start point is based off of the tail of The Chase. It starts with a third of the chase already visible and it ends with it bouncing back instead of disappearing to the left side. I know this worked differently in earlier versions I'm just not sure how far back. Is this broken or am I missing a setting

Check all settings, fade in, buffer, etc. Move or copy the effect to another part of the sequence, or a new sequence. People forget that when they create effects some of the settings were retained from the previous effect created. Also, you may have conflict from another effect, so moving will pin point that.

I'm pretty sure it's broke. I opened sequences they rendered properly in older versions. The single-strand will work just fine on everything except for bounce from left or bounce from right. Try it yourself I just did it on two different computers same result

I tried your file and same results your file had it set to short to see. Expand the effect so it moves slower set the chase size to about 60 throw in a out transition about .3. Then when you click on it you will see that the chase doesn't start moving on to the arch but it actually starts with about 30% of the arch already lit passes all the way to the left back to the right and bounces back up 30% before it stops. While its doing this click on any of the other Chase types and you'll see the difference

Did you try my sequence, including my xlights _rgbeffects.xml? If not, do so. You need to isolate.

Yes I opened it up and it completely different folder and selected it has the show directory. Like I said I have two different computers doing the same thing. I have older sequences that I made in xlights then converted to light O Rama with that affect and it acts different now.

Ok, here is a quick video of what I'm seeing.  Maybe I'm not understanding, is this NOT what you are seeing?

In your video just like in your file you have it set going too fast and the chase size is too small to see what I'm talking about. I'll try to explain this better, the effect used to work with it appearing from the left side traveling to the right and bouncing then disappearing into the left side again when Bounce from left was selected. Now when you select Bounce from left it starts with the whole Chase visible on the left side traveling to the right and bouncing back to the left bouncing again back up then off. This may have been changed on purpose and how its intended but it's different then what it used to be

OK. I don't remember it acting any different. But, I'm wrong quite a bit. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

I'm trying to get away from light O Rama and I'm recreating lot of my work and when I get to that effect it acts different now.  If I didn't have the side by side comparison I probably wouldn't have noticed it and I would have used a different effect, it just looks bad the way I was using it. I'll just go about what I was doing in a different way. It's no big deal I just thought I may have missed a setting combination to get it back the other way

 HI i use single strand,
Chase Tab
Number of chases =1
Chase size= 60 (upto 90)
Cycles = 1
3D fade is ticked
Skips Tab
all have = 1
number of advances = 0
I have the same problem, Cycles does not equal speed ,but its all we have to work with and this is as close as i can get to a HLS effect which sounds like your LOR,
Hope this may help a little
Cheers Boof63

The history for SingleStrandEffect shows nothing significant changed all year.
