Effect "Library"
« on: January 16, 2017, 04:52:30 PM »
Has there ever been any consideration for an "effect library/presets"?

For example, if I were to create an effect that I would like to use repeatedly, would I be able to "save" this effect then "recall/paste" it wherever needed?  The most useful feature would be the ability to tweak this effect preset, and have all the instances in the sequence also updated.

Currently, I"m simply copy/pasting--which works fine.  Until I decide I want to slightly alter the effect--then I have to individually find/adjust all the copies as well (or dig into the XML file itself).

I may be mistaken but I thought there already was one. Isnt what effect presets are for?

Right click in the sequencing grid and select Effect Preset.

Ah thanks--I do remember seeing that before, but was never successful with it. I'll take a closer look.

So I've taken a closer look at the Effect Presets, and it only performs part of what I'm requesting/wondering about.

Basically, it appears that the Effect Presets currently acts as a clipboard to "paste" frequently-used effects.  Once an effect is "pasted" in the sequence, it exists independent of the Effect Preset library.

However, my enhancement request is more along the line of pasting an effect as a "model" that references back to the library.  And when the "model" in the library is changed, all the instances of this "model" in the sequence also updates accordingly.

So instead of it being a simple "paste from library," these effects would actually reference back to the original "template" in the library.  And if the library "template" changes, all the effects in the sequence would also change accordingly.
