Click drag to select items in XLights

I just know I am going to look dumb asking this but for the life of me, I cannot select multiple items in XLights to copy or perform a timing shift or anything.  If I want to select several effects that I have placed on a model, I have to CTRL Click each one.  I have seen many videos of individuals demonstrating the Click Drag function to select multiple items but for some reason, it is not working on my computer.
If it matters, I'm on a laptop using a touch pad.

I have always de-selected the timing track in order to get it to work.
