Single-Strand Chase w/ Timing Bar Advance
« on: October 10, 2017, 09:16:29 PM »
Trying to create a basic effect, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

I'm creating a single-line (roof) two-color chase-effect (basically what you get with a two-color Single Strand Skip effect).  However, I want the "movement/advancement" to be based off the timing bar (basically similar to the movement that you can achieve using the VU Meter/Timing Event Bar).  The timing event bar is very close, but it has a wide gap of black (that I want to remove).

I.e. the "chase" advances in a staggered motion reflecting the timing bar, using only two colors.

Is there a separate effect that achieves this?  Is the VU Meter/Timing Event Bar the only place that I can have effect triggered off the Timing Bar?

Actually, I think it's very similar to the effect that's described in the sticky at the top of this section (and it appears that this ability has since been removed):

I added the Skips because I was looking for a certain effect that I used for Halloween that was a super pain in the neck to implement in HLS.   Basically, I wanted a "chase" that would advance only on the beats.   In HLS, I ended up doing a TON of copy/paste things to get the effect and it took  a lot of time.    Here's an example now with the skips in xLights:
