Power / Brightness Settings
« on: December 18, 2017, 05:34:40 PM »
I know a lot of people here are adjusting to lower power / brightness to lower power requirements.  I'm trying to determine where most do it.  I thought most were doing it on their Falcon controllers but obviously not everyone is using a controller with a brightness setting.  So I'm just sorta of polling how different members do it and different use cases.  Thanks!

Running 50% brightness set on all my controllers.  I do not have to worry with adjusting it in the XL for every song.

You wouldn't need to adjust every song in XL.  You use dimming curve settings on each model. Once setup every sequence automatically gets the brightness adjustment.  I do mine in the controller also though.

Considering my sequence sources are varied, doing it at the controller is the only way.  With one exception, they are all at 50%, 40%, or lower.  That exception is set to 60% (Pixels facing straight up with a 360 degree view possible.)

One thing that really stands out is that the matrix based units (matrix, megatrees, etc.) really look great at these lower levels. Images that were washed out before are very viewable.

following advice from various people, I have set brightness in my controllers to 40% or 50%. Elements at front of yard at 40%, ones on house at 50% - to try and balance overall brightness, and reduce power consumption. Considering dropping to 30/40% as it's still real bright.

Also have a dimming curve on one of the models at the front as its leds are brighter than the prop next to it (strip V nodes on same controller)

disclaimer: brightness is subjective to my non-calibrated eyes   :D
I know just enough to be dangerous :0
