This happens more than you may realize. That is why a number of us use the "multi-model" approach. One that you sequence and is not marked as part of my display and one that you do not sequence, but is a part of my display. Learn more about multi models and you can get very creative. a simple example for me is that I have 6 porch columns with RGB lights. Sequencing works much better when I have a vertical matrix setup with 6 columns. The matrix is not "part of my display", but the 6 individual porch column models are. The channels are same in both. Another use for me is a simple matrix of 1 x 8 with individual start channels. Those channels are all the ones that go to my static items - tune to sign, nativity, inflatable, etc. Now I can turn them all on by applying a color wash of red to the matrix. Think about it.
