P10 Information sign question
« on: January 08, 2018, 03:37:58 AM »
I’m thinking of adding a small 4 panel P10 (or P5) sign for next year. I’d like it to rotate through a series of messages during each song and I’m just wondering if this is possible. For example:

Message 1:
Now playing: Jingle Bell Rock

Message 2:
Tune to 87.9 FM

Message 3:
Days Till Christmas: 15

Message 4:
Merry Christmas from The Terry’s!!!

Is this possible and can the font color/style match up with my sequence?

If you make the sign part of each sequence then yes you can match it up but you need to specifically sequence it.  I just run my P10 sign in standalone mode so it has its own sequence running that is not related to the show.

I sequence my TuneTo sign into the sequences and then run it as a remote.    This allows me to do a bunch of things:

1) For the first minute of the song or so, it displays the normal Tune To and station number, but also then scrolls the song name and artist so people can know what's playing.

2) It allows me to match the color palette of the effects on the rest of the display for that song.   For "Frozen", I use Blue/Whites, for CrazyFrog JingleBells, more green, etc...

3) For my voice over/announcements, I can display all kinds of extra stuff.  We take donations for a local charity so I can display their logo and web site and such on the sign while the announcement describes the charity.

That said, the sequences are a LOT bigger and take longer to render.

For this year I used my P10 (4x4) as a standalone.  I also started it 30 min before the scheduled show and ran it for 30 min past the scheduled show as I put the show hours as one of the messages that display.  That way folks coming early or late know when the show will start or why they missed it.  Been thinking about integrating it into each sequence, but then there is a lot more work involved and the size does go up as Dan mentioned which also takes a lot longer to sync if you are using master remote with multiple remotes.

Thanks. I have a ton to learn about scheduling still. I’ve been in build phase for the past month so thinking more about the details now. I’m running FPP but still trying to understand the relationship between FPP and xSchedule. Just running my whole show off one f16v3 with multiple receivers. Assume I’ll be getting another PI or BBB to run the panels.
