What would be the best way to layout the matrix panels that are 42 nodes horizontal & 4 nodes vertical, total of 168 nodes? I have 3 matrix panel in 1 section, the last matrix panel cut down to 38 nodes horizontal & 4 nodes vertical, total of 152 nodes. Do I layout 1 matrix panel and use the sub-models to divide up the 3 panels, tried that, no success, still a little to the sub-model layout or layout 3 separate panels? On the universe setup I was thinking of 2 universe per panel, 84 nodes for each universe or wound it be better to use just 1 universe per panel and use a power injector? These panels will hang from my eaves. Thanks in advance for any help on this project.

Ok I'm a little confused because you mention sub-models and power injection in the same paragraph.  One is a software problem and the other is a hardware problem.  First forget about the software and lets figure out how you want to wire this thing up or have you already wired it up.  Is it 12v or 5v?  If its already wired how many outputs did you use?

I have not started on any wiring yet. 12v power. I saw one of the videos of laying out a matrix and using sub-models that is why I was asking about that. I am at the very beginning stages of this project and I want to make sure that I do the layout in Xlights correct and and wire it up the best possible way so it will look good from the start.

Do you want it look like 1 long 42x4 matrix on the house?  If so then just wire it up going 42 to the right then zig-zag 42 back to the left then 42 right and 42 left.  Depending on voltage and # of outputs you may need power injection between strings 2 and 3.  Then in xLights it's just a standard 42x4 horizontal matrix model.

I'm new to the matrix layout as far as the zig zag layout. Is this done in the layout. I was checking out the different options on the matrix setup in layout and did not see an option to change the node layout. I have setup the strands to start top right and I saw in node layout that my 4 rows/strands start with node 1 on the right and  node 42 ends on the left on all 4 strands. Thanks for your help on this Gil.

Yes the nodes will zig-zag if you define "strands per string" greater than 1.  Easiest way to define it is to think about reality.  How many strings do you have going into the controller?  If it's 1 string of 168 pixels then in xLights define the model as you guessed it....1 string...168 nodes per string....4 strands per string....and the program will flip direction every 42 nodes.  Or you might say I have 2 strings and define it as.....2 strings....84 nodes per string.......2 strands per string...and the program will give you the exact same layout.  The only thing you can't do if you want zig zag is to define it as 4 strings.

Gil could you assist me with scrolling text going across my Eaves matrix? I have tried a lot of different combos to getting the text to scroll across and I just can't get it to work. I can get the text to scroll across the first half, panel Eave Matrix 1-3 but not the second half. I have made changes to the X & Y settings but I can only get the first half to work. I have attached my files along with the sequence I am testing the text scrolling. I have a total of 10 panels, Eave Matrix panel 1-3 & Eave Matrix 7-10 are facing out to the street and Eave Matrix panel 4-6 is facing away from the street. I grouped panels 1-3 & 7-10. I am trying to get the text to scroll across the panels facing the street, 1-3 & 7-10. Every time I change to a different font or size it gets worse.
Thanks.

If you create a group and use stacked horizontal as the buffer style I think it will give you what you are looking for.
