Effect on Model and Sequence...First Pixel Red
« on: August 08, 2018, 11:59:15 AM »
Newbie here. When I place an effect (ie Butterfly) on my model, the first pixel is red, and the second pixel is the same as the third pixel, then the effect acts normal on the rest of the pixels. I have 8 mini trees and this happens to all of them. How would I correct this?
Thank you for your help

The first pixel in butterfly is always red. The maths does that. If it annoys you you could make the buffer oversized which would move the red pixel off your lights.

Thank you Keith...I was going crazy trying to figure out what I did wrong.  I am just starting with xLights.  My display is about 30% pixels and 70% LED.  I am using LOR but as the additions and changeovers occur, I want to move to xLights.
Am I able to still use my LOR controllers in xLights?  Do they stay using the USB dongle or do I change them to DMX, and if so..how?
This newbie appreciates everyone's help on this forum!
Dave

There is actually an entire diagonal line that leads down to the left corner on a Butterfly effect.  Its normal.  Its usually red but the effect does have other color palette options.

Many folks use LOR controllers USB and/or DMX.  If it's USB use the "Add LOR" button if DMX use the "Add E1.31" button.

If dmx use add USB on e131 if it is a network connected lor controller.

I couldn't quite tell what Keith meant but there are 2 options for LOR if using a USB dongle:
"Add USB" and "Add LOR"
"Add USB" uses a very simple protocol but can only support up to about 96 channels depending on baud rate.
"Add LOR" uses many of the LOR commands that are more efficient so it can get you up to a few thousand channels.
