Custom Model - Start Number/Channel Number
« on: November 22, 2014, 08:31:39 PM »
I know that this was covered somewhere in a video, but I can't seem to find it right now...

When creating a custom model, you give it the starting channel number on the left, and when you go to draw your model, do you start with THAT starting number, or do you just start at 1, 2, 3 and NC does the offset for you?

For example, for my second roof line, it starts at Universe 2, 1st channel, so that would be NC channel 513, correct? I would put that as my starting channel, and when I go to draw my model, do I start my numbering at 513, or start at 1, and NC does the offset, right?

Thanks again!

always draw custom models starting at 1.

use the start channel to move them around as needed,

Every custom model starts with 1,2,3 on the grid, and NC maps to your staring channel defined on the left side.

to clarify. you can do this for a model starting at channel 500

start channel 1, custom model 501,502,503 ....
or
start channel 500, custom model 1,2,3,4,5

If you make a model of say a candy cane. You want candycane 1-8. The second model just requires you to copy the 2nd model and then change the start channel.

If you did it the first way (which is legal), when you copy you would have to go in and change all those numbers.

so my  suggestion, always build custom models as 1,2,3 and use start channel to move them around
