Previously deleted effects randomly play (or not)
« on: November 17, 2018, 05:28:48 PM »
I don't know what language to use to try to search for this issue.

Sometimes when I play my sequence within xLights to see it on the preview for quality control it shows effects it renders effects I deleted long ago. And sometimes it doesn't do it. I disabled caching to see if that fixed it, didn't help.

The legacy effects that are being played are not visible in the sequence editor. It primarily happens in one stretch of the early sequence where I had renamed my file and updated a folder, both of which I attempted to undo.

Something to do with a data layer... I deleted it, sort of solved it, phantom effects did come back, as of this moment they don't play. I don't get it.

Only 2 ways to have data that isn't shown on the grid.  You have a data layer or the Render Mode got changed to Canvas mode in Settings.

I'm assuming you've done a render all and waited for it to complete.

I just ran into the same issue.  During playback, old effects played over the new effects.  I went back and used Model --> Delete effects to ensure there were no previous layers remaining.

Then re-rendered.  During playback I had both the new and the old effects playing on that model.

Rebooted and re-opened, re-rendered with same outcome. (Double checked that render was set to erase based on previous post)

This is on a PC, with windows 10. version .46.

Created a new sequence and imported the new effects with no previous effects showing up in the preview.  I used import to see if there was a data layer in the model being rendered.  But only the new effects were imported into the new sequence.

Not sure what else to try for reporting purposes.

If you want to know if you have a data layer open up Sequence Settings and look at the Data Layer tab.  I forgot about the new render cache.  That would be another place data could hide.  I don't know how that works much but I guarantee that if you have no data layer, turn off caching, and are in erase mode its just not possible for data to be sitting around hiding somewhere.
