Master View
« on: November 21, 2018, 11:01:16 PM »
Tje following steps results in a crash for me.  It doesn't ask for a crash report, just closes xLights.  I can't use a previous view to make a new master view.

I was able to repeat it 3 consecutive times.  Once after a full reboot of the PC.  This is on Windows, I haven't tried my Mac version yet.

Create New Sequence - Musical
Edit Display Elements
Select View (any previous view)
Make Master

Ha I didn't even we had that button.  Its probably a bug but I'll tell you how to keep it from happening.  When you create your new sequence you're supposed to pick the View in the drop down above the Quick Start button in the new sequence wizard dialogs.  I don't know why so many users skip over that.  We had a couple folks we had to tell like 4 times before they could see it.

Thanks!  I was able to use the other method, but sometimes when importing a shared file, I didn't know what props I would need and it is easier to make the new master once in the sequence.

Well I import other folks sequences also but I keep my render order the same so all my sequences have the same master view.  Its been an area where I wish we hadn't given the option to not have all your models in every sequence but I'm not sure it's something we can change at this point.

I have all my models in every sequence but not necessarily all my groups.  I make different groups if they sequence I'm importing has some odd combination and I don't want it to affect my normal sequencing.  So I'll make a group specific to that sequence/creator.

I kind of regret it now, because I end up with a ton of groups that I don't normally want to see...  So I just make a new master every for every import that limits the groups I have to see.  For anything that I sequence personally, then I just use my standard master...
