Converting LOR Equipment to xLights?
« on: December 16, 2018, 02:55:04 PM »
Hey all,

Not sure if this is the place to post it... But this is the thread that seems most fitting. For 2019 and beyond I am finally transitioning from LOR to xLights, and fully over to pixels. I just want to know if the equipment I have will work with xLights, or if I am going to need to make some changes?

So far the equipment we will be running is:

1 LOR AC controller for our "Tune To:" Signs.
8 of the LOR "dumb" RGB flood lights with their CMB24D Controller.
10 of the Holiday Coro AlphaPix E1.31 controllers.

Are all of these controllers something xLights can control, and aside from the controllers and xLights is there any other type of software or components I am missing, like USB adapters or anything like that? We have 1 LOR RS485 USB adapter... Would we still need this for xLights?

This is my first time branching over to xLights, so I want to make sure I know what I am getting myself into before fully committing and making the jump over.

Thanks in advance!
~Matt

First off, welcome.
I recognized your name from my Lor days.
Xlights can run everything that you mentioned and you might be able to get rid of the dongle by taking the DMX off of your AlphaPix.
If you have the chance join in on the zoom sessions and ask questions, I guarantee you'll learn a lot in there.
