xScheduler Question - Background Sequence and Audio
« on: December 18, 2018, 01:18:16 PM »
I've been using Vixen 2 for years.  It has the option to run a background script, and it will play an audio playlist for background music.

Here are my questions.

I'm assuming that, in order for the lights to be on when a show is not running, I need to create a sequence that turns them on.  I see in the xScheduler that I can create a playlist, add this sequence and have it loop.  If I'm reading this correctly, as long as I schedule my show playlist at a higher priority, it should interrupt this playlist/background sequence when the show starts.  However, how do I get a background music playlist to play along with the looping sequence?

Two options. You make it a background playlist. Not sure I have ever seen someone do it with audio but it should work.

Do you (or anyone) play background music in between shows?  Even outside of xLights/xScheduler, like with VLC or another media player?  I know that I've seen people use VLC to play music with Vixen 3, and then when the show starts, Vixen would kill VLC, run the show, and then restart VLC (or something to that effect).

I guess I don't really need to background music, I just like having it out there since I am using the radio station anyway...

Personally I believe you shouldn't do that.  We are already pushing the boundaries broadcasting a few hours a night but 24/7 becomes a pirate radio station.  Maybe you are one of the few that has a legal transmitter but I know from experience that if they are legal they barely can make it past your driveway.

@Gilrock has a point, there are legal issues.
However if you did want to experiment, you could use zara radio free.
Use the schedule in zara to start and stop the background music
I know just enough to be dangerous :0
