Edit User dictionary
« on: October 14, 2019, 08:06:13 AM »
I don't know if this is a bug or not. The tool bar has a Edit User Dictionary function. The user cannot manually enter a word and phoneme. They have to use the copy from first. If they don't use the copy from button, they cannot save the phoneme. If you do make some changes, it might be nice to include a brief description of how the phonemes are supposed to be entered, sort of like what is in the user_dictionary file, and maybe a link to the CMU Pronouncing dictionary?

LOL, I have no problems with it and it was only a suggestion since many people are manual phobic, they might be poking around and find this feature and try to actually use it. If they were to actually refer to the manual to see how to use this feature, they wouldn't find anything about this feature...Just saying

Yeah I wasn't directing my comment at you.  There have been a lot of "features" added to make something easier for users that I would have left as is.  So I laugh whenever those features cause additional developer support.

I didn't think you were directing it at me and just venting, but I responded so that the offending party(ies) could see the potential issues. Either address it now, or later. If it is documented "somewhere" then it might reduce further support requests. The manual would be great, but like I said, I know first hand that MANY people seem to be manual phobic. I rewrote the FPP manual and took great lengths to try and cover everything and I see several requests each day that are covered in detail in the manual. Go figure....
And by the way, thanks for the awesome work you guys are doing!
