As many of you do I have a Christmas and a Halloween Show. With the new method based on controller vs the old method Im confused becuase I used the same controllers but have vastly different setup based on the show. My set up in a nutshell is:
1) Falcon F16 that drives my main house, house outline, windows, wall washer floods, house matrix and door matrix and this for the most part is the same for halloween and christmas with the exception at halloween I drive some floods in my graveyard off the serial port during halloween.
2) Falcon F16 at christmas drives one mega tree, arches, smaller pixel trees and other christmas props. However at Halloween I use it to drive my pixel tombstones, and serial port for dmx floods and attempting to add some moving head spots and fogger.
3) San Device e682 that drives a mega tree and star
4) P10 BBB for both halloween and christmas
5) P10 BBB for Christmas only
I have different layout previews and all models are referenced as all, or Christmas, halloween. As I have worked through the controller set up page however I'm stumped as to how I to have the controllers set up in xLights in two different show configurations. Obviously when I change shows the physical wiring set up is different especially on the #2 controller and the #3 controller and #5 is not even plugged in.
My first thought was that I would just create a different show directory and recreate all my models controllers etc in the other directory but that seem like a lot of work (LOL and I'm lazy and perhaps overthinking it) It might however be that only way.
If I do in fact have to create a new say halloween directory is there a way easy to copy and paste all the appicable models controllers etc from my current show directory over to my new say "halloween show" directory without recreating the wheel? What file extenstion are models, controllers and layout saved under, etc
I probably should have created two show directories when I added halloween years ago but until the new controllers based update it was not necessary -- As with most things I'm sure I'm over thinking as I'm sure many of us have this same situation. Advice or guidance please and thank you.
