Noob needs advice
« on: November 11, 2020, 01:30:57 PM »
!! Total noob here. But excited to jump on board (No pun intended)  Ok so here's what I'm planning and don't know where to start.  I am doing a christmas carol haunted scene in my yard. There will be actual static props of each ghost and of scrooge. I will be using a projector to play some background scenes but it will be playing the audio of scrooge and each ghost. What I need to do is have each ghost light up during their scene with a led spotlight. (4 or 5 lights in all, and 2 of them need to change colors with the scene)  I also need to trigger a snow machine according to scene. What would you use to control this and what lights?? The more I look into it the more confused I get. Thanks

Essentially it is just a very small light show with some other effects. You could absolutely build it in xLights and play it from a computer or from a raspberry pi using FPP (or several if your video locations are remote from each other).

To control the lights and snow machine (assuming the snow machine has DMX control) you could use something simple like Alan's rPi-28D+ board http://www.hansonelectronics.com.au/product/rpi-28dplus/ fitted to a Pi.

( wired watts sells Alan's board in the USA https://www.wiredwatts.com/hanrpi28d  )

For the spotlights something like these small floods https://www.wiredwatts.com/sf10wkp3-10w-smart-flood-light

I know just enough to be dangerous :0
