5 amp fuses keep blowing on my Dig-Quad
« on: November 21, 2021, 09:47:07 PM »
Hello
I am using dig-uno's and Dig-Quads as controller on my LED light displays. I know I know...I'm just starting out and have not gotten into ethernet falcon boards yet.
 So on that note....
I have a Matrix that has 2320 12v nodes with 8 power injections. I am running a 75amp 900 watt power supply. over kill but that's ok.
The problem is after playing a few sequences the matrix shut down. I checked the fuses and 4 out of 5  5amp fuses were blown. I'm not sure but I heard the Quads can handle 10amp fuses is this correct and will this rectify my problem?

The problem is most of those pixel strings are not designed to have 10 amps running through them.  The easiest thing is to run at a reduced output %.

2320 nodes @ full power would be close to 130 amps.  Divide that by 8 and you've got about 16.25 amps per output.  You would need to run the outputs below 30% to keep them below the 5 amp threshold.

Matrices and other real high desity props will still look good at 10%.  Give a try before you rule it out.

how do you change the brightness on xlights scheduler? I see the volume and can change that but I can't change the Brightness that is right beside it.

Any decent controller allows you to set the percentage in the output definition.

So now you need an indecent fix.  Look at dimming curves in the sequencer.

I added 7.5 amp fuses and turned the Dim down to 70% through xlights scheduler.
Worried the nodes might burn up.
